Contaminated Raw Milk Sold in Midstate Counties

(Harrisburg, PA) - The state Department of Agriculture has issued a warning about contaminated raw milk sold in 12 counties, including six in Central PA. The milk was sold by Apple Valley Creamery under the Pure Pastures Dairy label. The sell-by dates from April 3rd through Thursday, May 2nd should be thrown out. The counties include Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, Lancaster, and York. Samples tested by the agency came back with positive results for Campylobacter, a bacteria that results from udder infection in dairy cattle caused by manure contamination. At least one person has fallen ill. Symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, fever, and vomiting.
